The Ultimate Skin Care Guide | Fitness & Beauty

Bodybuilding is great for body but bad for skin.  Acne is a common problem among weightlifters and the tanning products and makeup used in competition can also wreak havoc on your skin.  Don’t fret though; Ziad Mekdachi will tell you his Body & Beauty Secret.

Ziad Mekdachi grew up in the Middle East. Due to the war, he came to Seychelles with family. Life in Seychelles is too comfortable and Seychelles is known as a lazy country, far away from everything. If he was going to rescue his career, he had to shake it up. Shaking it up, indeed. And it worked. He won the 2014 Amateur Olympia Africa, 2016 Mr Indian Ocean, 2018 Mr Gentle Giant Classic, Mr Seychelles (6XWinner), and 2019 Arnold Classic Africa, many, including this press pit observer, felt he deserved better. At long last, he had buzz.

"There are no shortcuts to success. That’s my motto. You can’t climb immediately to the top. You take steps and you choose steps wisely. And you try not to sacrifice too many of the things that got you there. You have to think about long-term goals, and you have to think about an exit strategy. " Ziad told the press.

GROOMING TIPS

Ziad Mekdachi's skincare routine

“My approach to grooming was always to steal my wife’s products. That was kind of it, really. I’d always been aware of how I wanted my body to look, stuff like that, but I was also in a career where I was always sweating—whether I was living in Syria, living in Seychelles…all these different places with hot weather. I had to take care of my skin because of that, but the way I looked after it was to steal my wife’s stuff, because I know Suzie has a strict skin care regime. It’s been a process I’ve really enjoyed because I look after myself a lot better now. I never used to use face wash, apart from using my wife’s products. I never used to make the time to do that. Now I have a face wash, I use eye masks, face mask. And it’s so much more acceptable—guys find it much more natural to talk about their products that they use, and what they do to look after their skin and their hair, and the way they want to look. I’m very excited about that."

SKINCARE

"The first time I did a mask was pretty recently, actually. I tried Mahe Bleu Water Brightening Mask, and I really like it. Suzie loves to do it before she’s going to bed, or when she wakes up. Making the time to go for a nice facial is important—it doesn’t just make you look glorious, it makes you feel confident as well."

Now I use the
NOURISHING GENTLE CLEANSING BALM every morning. I don’t scrub my face every morning, but the face wash is something that I start with. And obviously the REJUVENATE ADVANCED FIRMING COMPLEX.Then I add a little bit of lip balm and the REJUVENATING EYE CREAM, just to give those areas a coating. But I don’t get up an hour before I have to take my son to school to do my morning ritual. It’s very straightforward and quick. I do the whole thing in the morning and then I’ll moisturize a few more times throughout the day, to be honest.

I got pigmentation because of Sun Burn, I’m not like, ‘Oh my God, I got more dark spots today, I have to remove it.’ I’m not really that precious about it, and I’ve never been. I was actually quite pleased the other day, because someone asked if I had Bleaching, and I was like, ‘Wow, this product must actually be working,’ because I never have and never would. I was aware I was getting more gray hairs than obviously I was five years ago, but it’s just a natural progression, you know? I’m not going to dye my hair and hide them, because I think I actually quite like it. I’ve had the same with my beard—there’s quite a few gray hairs coming through the beard, but it’s just a natural thing.

I’m very excited about Mahe Bleu Rejuvenating Skin Care that was launched in Seychelles. The one that I used to use was Clarins, which was also stolen from my wife. But she said Clarins works in Europe but not in Seychelles. UV rays here is extremely strong and it's so humid here. It's good for tropical plants but not human skin. Mahe Bleu Rejuvenating Collection is full of antioxidants, peptides, Marine-Based Ingredients and Botanic Extracts , it will correct uneven skin tone."
